Confidentiality for Pastors - A New Pathway to Spiritual Equilibrium

The
First
Note
of Compromise

Genesis 22:1-18

And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.   And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.   Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.   And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.   And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?   And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.   And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.   And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.   And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.   And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.   And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,   And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:   That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;   And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
God will always ask you to put Isaac on the altar of sacrifice, and if you don't put your Isaac on the altar of sacrifice, giving back to God what he has blessed you with, then you have entered into the deep pit of compromise, and have already forfeited your Isaac because your Isaac has become to you an idol, something that takes precedence in your life above God.

Then, whether you realize it or not, the first note of compromise with the Devil has sounded, and your downward spiral into the bowels of hell has begun; that insidious grasp of evil snaring your eternal soul.

Satan's greatest weapon is fear. If you fear losing what God has given you then what you are doing is opening wide the door to control and manipulation by Satan's inculcated army of doomed foot soldiers, who are always waiting in the wings until they hear the sound of the first note of your compromise, thus the beginning of your downfall into hell, and away from God's purpose in your life.

Consequently, ineffective ministry is birthed through the process of minute destructions; the relentless assault on your integrity, because one compromise inevitably leads to another, because you have given Satan a big stick to hit you over the head with repeatedly to bring you under his authority and rule.

Pastors with mega ministries are particularly vulnerable because they worked so hard to build their ministries, making innumerable sacrifices, and any threat that they might lose it calls forth the protective instinct, which turns negative because it is temporarily protected by compromise instead of relying on God's power to keep what he has given you.

I know that there is a net of evil covering the world, but God is all-powerful, and if we seek him he will increase our spiritual weapons of warfare enabling us to overcome all our enemies eventually. It will always be a long drawn out fight to the death, so to speak. Either we destroy your enemies or they will control, manipulate, and eventually destroy us.

Only God can give and take away. That is his forte. But if we allow fear to trample on our faith in God then the game is already lost. Satan
will take you from fear to fear; first fear of losing your ministry, fear of losing your children, wife or wealth; all that God has given you causing you perhaps to reflect on the Job scenario. Job realized that the Lord giveth and that the Lord taketh away. Nevertheless, blessed be the name of the Lord.

Everything you have and own has the potential to be your Isaac. What are you afraid of losing? That is exactly where Satan will pummel with the relentless hammer of perceived destruction. He tries to break into the house that God built by knocking just a "little hole" in the structure. That "little hole" has the capacity to weaken the entire spiritual foundation and bring the whole house down. That "little hole" is the first decision you make to compromise with the devil, stupidly trying to keep what God has given you, forgetting that if God gave it to you it's yours until he takes it away, and if he takes it away "Job" then blessed be the name of the Lord, because God alone has the power to multiply it and give it all back.
What would have happened if Abraham had not put Isaac on the altar and told God "No!" I will not put my son at risk. I will not sacrifice Isaac. I will not give him back to you. You promised me Isaac, and now that I have this ministry, now that I have this blessing, I'm going to hold on to it no matter what it takes.

I'll tell you what would have happened to Isaac. He would have died in Abraham's arms because Abraham would have chosen Isaac over God, thus making his son an idol, which God hates. Have your ministry become an idol? Have you made compromises with Satan in order, you think, to maintain the status quo? Did Satan threaten to destroy what God has given you, and did you believe that he had the power and the authority to do so?

Well he doesn't, unless you hand it to him on a silver platter. He can do nothing except God permits it, and if God permits it, so be it. Let it go!
We, as Christians, should never hold on too tightly to what God has given us because he is a jealous God and becomes highly offended when we put the blessing that he has given us before him. That's why he tested Abraham, to see what he would do.

Therefore, he will test us as well. So when Satan comes along riding his big black horse of destruction, invite him to take it all if he can. Step into your faith in God and wear it like a protective coat. We must be willing to sacrifice all to God. If we crack the window and allow Satan into our spiritual house, he won't be satisfied with "one little" compromise.

His intent is the total and complete destruction of your eternal soul. That is his ultimate goal. He doesn't care a fig for your church, or your family and wealth. He is after your soul via a series of seemingly insignificant compromises to keep the "peace" in your house or your church. Never, ever compromise with the devil because it is only the first note of the annihilation of your eternal soul.

If you let a burglar into your house because he told you that he will only take one thing, and you believe him, when once he enters your house he will take whatsoever he will because you have relinquished the power and authority over your house or church to Satan because of fear of what he said he would do to you if you don't let him in; kill your children, destroy your marriage, and or destroy your church by causing continuous chaos.

Fear is the only weapon that Satan has, and he won't stop until your soul is in his grasp permanently. Once you give in to the darkness of defeat you will find yourself doing things that you thought you would never do; adultery, theft, domestic violence, sexual perversions, and or child molestation. All those old demons that God delivered you from will be seeking to reestablish themselves within your spiritual house until you become an unrecognizable replica of who you once were in God by the Holy Spirit within you.

One unchecked drop of water dripping continuously over a period of years will eventually destroy the foundation of a house. When once you let Satan into your spiritual house he will begin to control you like a string puppet.
Satan uses your fears as lethal weapons against you to provoke you into acquiescing to his corrupt will. Dancing the puppet dance to your new master, Satan, is a terrible place to be for one who has known the depths of God. This is why we fear God only.

As you try to ascertain how you got yourself into such a predicament, just look in the mirror and see a reflection of the flesh that your failed to crucify staring back at you. If you don't crucify your flesh it will lead you into the arms of Satan who will slow-dance you into hell's tenacious embrace, where only the power of God is able to set you free.

The problem, however, with that is this. Sin causes your mind to darken to the reality of who God is and puts your faith in a wobbly state. Your faith now is the grounded in fear of what Satan will or will not do to you or against you and your loved ones if you no longer dance to the onslaught of death's melody of destruction.

Once you see yourself spiraling downward towards hell's abyss the only thing that will save your eternal life at this point is your own desperation, and newly born willingness to suffer whatever loss you must in order to right adjust your relationship with God, who really loves you and cares about what happens to you and for the destination of your eternal soul.

Why would you choose to live a mock Christian life, holding on to things or people that should have been placed on the altar to God eons ago, in lieu of a true Christian life where eternal life in the presence of the Lord is your reward. Satan is counting on you to do anything he asks of you to avoid the devastating humiliation of loss and embarrassment. But if you must, you can walk through the humiliation of loss and suffer through the embarrassment, and God will restore it all and bring you to a better higher place in him.

If you don't put Isaac on the altar to God "Abraham" you will forfeit your eternal reward, and absolutely no one or nothing will be worth that. It may not seem to be the truth right now, but stay where you are long enough, and a great sinkhole, that is not apparent beneath your feet, that is in the process of forming, initiated by one "tiny" drop of water gone unchecked for decades, will suddenly collapse and the thing that you sold your soul to keep will crumble into nothingness. What then? Will you cry out to God from hell with empty hands, having lost what he has given you? And will he hear your cry, or will you be of that number whom God has totally cut off from any possibility of attaining eternal life in his holy presence?

Compromising with Satan on any level will always lead to disaster. It's just a matter of time and God's anger connecting. We know that it is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of an angry God. His anger stems from four causes.

  1. You failed to offer Isaac on the altar of sacrifice, that is, to give God back the blessing that he gave to you, that thing that means the "world" to you.
  2. Once you made the wrong decision you failed to repent and get your life back in order with God's will.
  3. You began to wallow in your sins and grew arrogant believing Satan's lie that you can have it all; you can have one foot in hell and the other foot in heaven, when, in fact, what you actually have is one foot in hell and the other foot in a sort of faux heaven devised by Satan that looks like church and acts and sounds like church, but God has left the premises, and when God lifts up his skirts, his covering, the corporate anointing is gone, and there is nothing left but inevitable destruction.
  4. Having discovered the true state of your downfall, as if that were a very little thing, you proceeded to become a full-fledged disciple of Satan, and are now turning souls into hell instead of introducing them to the power and love of God; the victim has then become the predator, and the "House of God" your playground.

The list is long of former pastors/preachers who have knuckled under the oppressiveness of the evil construct of Satan; people who attend church services only to prey on and devour the true Saints of God. Anywhere a group of people congregate, whether it is in a church setting, the workplace environment, a family gathering, or a football game, Satan's predators are at work trying to kill, to steal from and to utterly destroy the people of God.

Everything and everyone belongs to God, so it is he who will exact the perfect vengeance individually, nationally or worldwide.
