The Rejected Bridegroom

Matthew 9:15
And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

Matthew 25
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, behold, the bridegroom cometh; Go ye out to meet him.

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, not so; Lest there be not enough for us and you: But go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; And straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: Behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: Enter thou into the joy of thy lord. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: Behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: Enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: Lo, there thou hast that is thine.

His lord answered and said unto him, thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: But from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? Or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: Naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: But the righteous into life eternal.
The bridegroom is standing at the altar of heaven waiting for his bride to arrive. The Lord of lords is his name. The King of kings is his name. The Lord Jesus Christ is his name. He loves his bride with an everlasting love. He demonstrated his love for his bride by laying aside all that he was, Eternal Father reigning in heaven's abode, and taking on the form and likeness of man, entering into time and becoming the sacrificial lamb for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus was crucified on the cross of affliction, suffering for his beloved bride to show her just how much he loves her still, in spite of the fact that her love was not perfected in her heart for him. His love was so great that he looked past her faults, he looked past her weaknesses and prepared a mansion for her in his heavily kingdom, a divine and holy place to take his new bride after the wedding ceremony takes place.

Patiently, he stands at heaven's altar waiting for his bride to arrive. The wedding march is being played by heaven's symphony. The guests have all arrived, the angelic hosts of heaven, the patriarchs of old, the descendants of kings, the Father and mother of the groom is there, along with his brothers and sisters, an entire entourage of family and friends are seated in the Eternal Chambers of Divine Love waiting for the bride to arrive, the Church of the living God.
After so great a sacrifice where is the bride of Christ? She is trapped in the sins of the flesh refusing to accept Jesus Christ as Lord over her life.

We live in a world that was created by God. Everything that is originated from his creative power. Every man, woman and child have their origins in the creative power of God, who created them with a purpose in mind, love being the motivation, to bring his created beings into right relationship with him, to praise and worship him for all eternity.

The sacrificial lamb of God is ignored by many. They hear his story, shrug their shoulders and keep on living their lives according to their own will, refusing to crucify their flesh, and to obey the will of God for their lives. It is as though they think God is a decoration, something to put on and put off at will, without truly understanding the power and presence of the Lord. Without truly understanding that God is real, spirit though he be, yet his holy presence is real and powerful. He is so powerful that he need not be seen to be believed. His works alone testify on his behalf, and even our own existence within the framework of our conscience that tells us right from wrong. We know within the secret chambers of our heart, if we would but consult it, that God is real and in communication with our hearts, making himself known to us, if we would but listen!
God is not difficult to know. He is not hiding in a secret cave from us. All we need do is seek him with a contrite heart, recognizing that we have sinned, acknowledging that sin and asking God to forgive us with true sincerity. He is our father. He created us and gave us the opportunity to live our lives unto him.

How then can we neglect a God who dwells in eternity and loves us with an everlasting love, so much so, that he died for us to give all of humanity a chance to reach the pinnacle of human existence, to be in fellowship with our Creator God?

How can we ignore that kind of love and allow Satan to rob us of our God-given eternal life? Satan has lost his opportunity to be in the presence of the Lord, so now, all he can do is try to rob you of your rightful place in God.

What is in this world that you would hold on to at the expense of your eternal life? Money? Houses or land? A man or a woman? What is worth it? Nothing, because everything that you see with your eyes will pass away, and nothing will be left but your relationship with God.

It's not easy to crucify the flesh. We just have to want to do it, and the only way we ever get to the place of wanting to crucify our flesh is because we have learned that giving in to fleshly desires is not only destructive but painful. Experience after experience with pain and suffering teaches us that God's way is the best way, the only way.

We were created with a part of us designated for God to dwell in us by his Holy Spirit. His Holy Spirit will only dwell in a clean temple. We were meant to be his temple, his dwelling place. Consequently, we must repent and allow him to clean us by his Holy Spirit, so that he can dwell in us, teach us and bring us to our highest potential and purpose, to the individual that he created us to be.

That process is long and arduous. I keep going through the pain and the suffering because I present my life to him to do with as he will, and Satan tries in every conceivable way to obstruct my journey to my own specific purpose. But I keep telling myself through the pain and suffering that God is blessing me right now in the midst of my pain, and in the midst of my suffering, he is blessing me. I keep walking towards God no matter the obstacles that Satan lays in my pathway, because I seek something past the pain and the suffering, I seek the will of God for my life, and I won't be satisfied until I am in my promised land, until I am standing in the midst of my purpose.

I'll not let anyone hinder my relationship with the Lord. The greater my trials and tribulations means the more time I spend in the presence of the Lord because I know he is making me, he is building a new life for me on the foundation of my pain and suffering. The more I suffer the more I know I am drawing closer to where God wants me to be, in the heart of his purpose and will for my life.

Everyday God is constructing my life anew. I don't know what it will be like, but I trust him. I know that he knows what he is doing, and I have long since given up trying to guess what will be, but just to remember one thing, to stay in the will of God no matter what, to stay strong and faithful in the things of God.

He died on the cross for me and I'll not let that gift of life foolishly slip away from me, but instead, I am holding on with every fiber of my being. I'll let nothing or no one separate me from the love of God. God is my truth, my first love, my everlasting father. He will not forsake me nor disappoint me.

The world was created by his Word, so I know his Word will stand forever. I have seen his Word come to pass in my life so many times, and every time my faith grows stronger and stronger. I cannot turn around and go backwards, for there is nothing there. My mind dwells on the presence of God, his love for me and my love for him, in that, whatever he asks of me I will do it, whatever sacrifices I must make is worth it, just to know that my life pleases him.

I don't want to be one of the ones who didn't make it to the Kingdom of God because I yielded to my flesh, and or my will, and turned, in sheer stupidity, away from the only one who truly matters, my Lord, my God, and my Savior.

I want to be prepared to meet Jesus when he comes for his bride. I don't want to be lost in the fires of hell with Satan and all the disobedient children of God. Therefore, I crucify what needs to be crucified and go forth into the will and purpose of God, through the devastation, through the loss, through to the other side of pain and suffering to obtain the crown of life, which is worth any price. I pay it gladly just to know I will be with my Lord and Savior for all eternity.
