The Casualties
Spiritual Warfare
The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning. The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned (Lamentations 5:15-16)!
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled
(2 Corinthians 10:3-6).
This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme (I Timothy 1:18-20).
"If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there." God is always there before you and behind you, in your past, presence and future.  There is nowhere you can go where He is not.  Often times we find ourselves in a curious dilemma wondering how our lives got trashed.
Well, it was one wrong decision right after another, so forth and so on, until we finally took the time to look up and realize that we were staring into the face of Satan, and find ourselves startled into a shocking reality that has previously escaped our grasp, a reality that causes our souls to tremble.  Said reality being that the powers of darkness has assailed us.  What now, my friend, shall we do?
We can either get up from the ground of foolishness and began the journey back to our origins, the God of truth, or we can allow ourselves to be devoured whole by the insatiable appetites of the evil ones, the ones who have cast God behind their back, and seek only to feed off the carrion of souls gone astray.
Well, not being in agreement with the evil ones of Satan, I decided not be carrion like those who are spiritually dead, bereft of the presence of God with no viable future, with no viable purpose in life, just wandering from one feeding ground to another, devouring souls who wandered too close to the great abyss, who are stuck there while the fires of hell scorch their very essence.
I know who God is, consequently, I know He is all powerful, that nothing is beyond His scope.  I wanted my joy back.  I wanted my mourning to turn into dancing.
So picking myself up from the dirt of bad decisions, I began my journey back to God, thus began a spiritual warfare the likes of which I am sure the world has never seen before.
In the trenches of spiritual warfare I found my true self as God began to reveal to me who I really am.  But first, my flesh had to die.  It's like being buried in the midst of the earth, and rising from the depths of impossibility, only to stare death in the face and make friends with him, for there is no other way, because if you are afraid of dying you have already lost the war.
Satan sent death my way so many times that Death and I became the best of friends.  Friends with death you say?  Of course!  Death is but another aspect of the power of God.
The Word says in Deuteronomy 32:39, "See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand."
So when I realize that I have walked through death again for the umpteenth time our conversation might go something like this when Death arrives:
Death: Oh it's you again.  You have a lot of enemies trying to kill you.
Joy: Yeah, I know and I'm weary with walking through death all the time.  I can always tell when I wake up in the morning that I should have been dead.
Death: No one can kill your purpose but you.  I don't understand why the evil ones keep trying to disannul the word of God that is walking ahead of you making your paths straight.
Joy: Neither do I, and I sincerely hope that it is a great while before I see you again.
Hence, you cannot become a successful spiritual warrior in God's army and be afraid of death of which He has control over.  You might as well lay your spiritual weapons down on the ground now.
You lose your fear of death by having faith in God that He is able to protect you from the wiles of the devil.  When your trust is whole in God death has no sway over you.  The devil can try to instill fear in you by waving death in your face, but he really has no power to take you life because all life is in God's hands, and if God determines that your life is at an end, then so be it.  You will just be on the other side of death in the presence of the Lord.  There is no reason to fear anything or anyone.
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:35-39)
Why let the devil put fear in your heart and cause you to stumble in your walk with God.  If you are fearless, God raises you up above the fray and gives you extraordinary weapons to wage war against Satan's kingdom.  God will turn you into a fierce warrior, and all the host of Satan's army will know that they have been in a battle and lost.  They will continue to lose because God is working through you against the evil in them.
Consequently, the kingdom of Satan will soon crumble to the dust during this generation, because it is a season of transition.  Evil foundations are crumbling in every corner of the world and will continue to do so.
Until righteousness rings loud and clear from the four corners of the world.
Until humanity turns all of its attention toward the holy God of all creation.
Until all the evil rebellious ones are put under the feet of the Saints of God.
We are entering into a new dispensation where the forces of evil will be corralled and rendered powerless somewhat like a lion with no teeth and no claws. Those who serve Satan will either have to repent and turn from their wicked ways, or face the swift judgment of the Almighty God.
The casualties of spiritual warfare are those who initially picked up their cross and decided to follow Jesus, and along the way they stumbled over the truth that before you can adequately serve the Lord, your flesh must die.  Nothing in this world can take precedence over the will of God in your life. Thus, we have former Christians pandering to their flesh, having tossed aside their weapons of spiritual warfare, and deserted the army of the living God and joined the army of Satan; the lost souls who walk backward through life, fearing the judgment of God, but walking backward in useless fear, having lost their ability to reason, which dictates what they should and should not do. Consequently, they do any and everything contrary to the Word of God and find themselves swirling downward in the cesspool of sin.
The casualties of spiritual warfare are those who hear their conscience screaming loudly to them as they participate in extraordinary sins of disobedience and sexual perversions, those wearing crosses around their necks, calling themselves Christians because they have recreated a god in their own image who accepts their sin.  Consequently, they have murdered their conscience through sin, and since their conscience is now quiet they are free to commit heinous acts of rebellion against their Creator. Thus we have a world full of people destined to embrace the unembraceable Hell, the place of eternal punishment, because they allowed their flesh to rule their lives instead of the Holy Spirit, the one who helps Christians live overcoming lives in the will of God. The Holy Spirit is available to everyone who has faith to believe and receive the divine gift from God because Jesus died on the cross to bring us into right relationship with God.
As a Christian, you cannot do everything that you want to do, nor can you have everything that you desire, but instead you must first deny yourself, align your life with the Word of God ,and take up your cross, your cup of suffering, and follow Jesus through this world, which is only a determining factor to decide where you will spend eternity, either in the presence of the Lord or in perpetual torment.
Remember then that everything you see with your eyes will pass away, including your own bodies.  We will then inhabit eternal spiritual bodies. There will be a new heaven and a new earth, so all the things that you have sold yourselves to Satan for will no longer exist.  The only thing that will be relevant is what you did with the life that God gave you.  What excuse will you give God for disobedience to His Word. "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:26)
